Rules of the road

Can a person park car in the opposite to the traffic flow? Traffic goes south to north and the car park facing south, either park or park with driver inside waiting for passenger. I live on a street next to a GO station. Frequently people park their car facing the wrong direction to the flow of traffic while waiting for their passenger. 2: can a person park their car facing the wrong direction like above but in front of street post office community mail boxes to pick up their mail.

Remaining in the driver’s seat does not change that rule. Waiting for a passenger is parking. In a No Parking area, a driver may stop only while actually loading or unloading a passenger or merchandise, not while waiting for someone to arrive. The manoeuvre used to park facing the wrong direction may create additional safety concerns. There is not necessarily an automatic Highway Traffic Act charge simply for driving across the road to park, but an officer could consider charges based on what was observed, such as an unsafe turn, interfering with oncoming traffic, crossing the centre line improperly, failing to signal, or careless driving. A driver collecting mail must also obey the parking restrictions...
